To work as a travel agent in the UK you will need to take a basic DBS check.

A basic DBS check is a criminal record check carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service. The DBS are a public body sponsored by the Home Office.

DBS checks exist to keep the public safe and are a legal requirement set out in the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. The act refers to the type of vetting needed for frontline roles, including those working with children and vulnerable adults.

Although you will not be working with children or vulnerable adults as a travel agent, you will be working in constant contact with the public and be privy to sensitive information so a DBS check for a travel agent is a basic DBS check.

A basic DBS check for a travel agent will check for any unspent criminal convictions or conditional cautions. This is a first-tier CRB check and will not involve any past spent convictions.

We support organisations and individuals to complete basic DBS checks online. If you would like to complete your basic DBS check online with us today, visit our home page or call one of our friendly advisers on 0333 030 0446 to discuss your basic DBS in more detail.
