A basic DBS check for a steeplejack will search for any unspent criminal convictions or conditional cautions. Executed by the Disclosure and Barring Service on behalf of the Home Office, this background check will form a statutory part of your recruitment.

The requirement for a DBS check for a steeplejack is set out in 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act alongside a vast number of other frontline roles.

The purpose of these CRB checks is to ensure the public, particularly vulnerable adults and children, are kept safe from those who are unsuitable for public-facing roles.

Basic DBS checks are a low level check which will not include spent convictions and you do not have to disclose them to your employer when working as a steeplejack.

When you apply to work as a steeplejack, your employer will use your DBS checks to ensure you are right for the role.
