A DBS check for a mayor will be a basic check which requires a search for any unspent criminal convictions or conditional cautions.

All other frontline roles in the UK are subject to a DBS check. DBS checks are carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service on behalf of the Home Office.

Eligibility to serve as a mayor

A basic DBS check for a mayor is only a first level CRB check and will not include spent convictions.
